The restaurant is a great small gem, hidden in a predominantly Chinese neighborhood. Amazingly tasty and efficient. The food was fresh, to our liking. The soup was extra excellent, all the sushi and sashimi’s were extra great and delicious and the bento was good. The rolls are extremely fresh and yummy. The restaurant has a good selection of Japanese beer. We enjoyed our dinner and left happy. Thanks to the whole team.

Had a delectable dinner for 4 in this under the radar, cozy Richmond Restaurant - Izakaya Mayumi - Delicious Japanese specialties included Agedashi Tofu, Hamachi Kama and the grilled scallop skewers were so tasty! We also ordered assorted 16 piece Sashimi (So Fresh), as well as a couple of Sushi Rolls - the Richmond Idol, a beautiful roll of tuna, salmon, yellowtail and avocado, and the Dragon Roll - so yummy and delicate. Its all here wrapped in an intimate, inviting vibe.

I hated this place. We came here because it had 4.8 stars but I was so incredibly disappointed in the quality of the food. The potato croquette is bad, the crab croquette is bad, the takoyaki is ok, the fried gyoza is decent, the salmon and avocado is decent. I like the hot sake tho.

Reservations are recommended but we were able to get a table in 5-10 minutes by walking in. The restaurant is small so I wouldn't recommend it for a big group. There are a few tables as well as bar seating. The menu selection was solid and the food we got was pretty tasty too. Service was efficient and because the place is small, it was easy to get their attention if we needed it. Parking is hard but that is the Outer Richmond for you.

This is one of the best Izakaya restaurants in the Bay Area and the price is reasonable. It offers many items not typically found in many other Izakaya places. A friend and I ordered - potato croquette - grilled miso black cod - takoyaki (deep fried octopus dough balls) - agedashi tofu - tori no karaage (fried chicken) - takowasa (raw octopus mixed with wasabi sauce) All were excellent. Our server claimed the restaurant has the best karaage in San Francisco. He might be right. It got lighter and more delicate coating than any karaage I had before.
